Education
Enhancement

With over 25 years of experience in the higher education sector, I am committed to delivering a high-quality experience and excellent outcomes for students while meeting commitments to all stakeholders. I emphasise community, connection and collaboration in all my consultancy work, developing staff and transforming universities and their programmes through organisational change processes. I work with higher education providers, associated professional bodies and national accrediting bodies.

Background & Professional Values

From a remote, rural background marked by social and economic deprivation and personal hardships, my journey has been far from ordinary. The challenges of a working-class upbringing, childhood trauma and estrangement from family set me early on a path of resilience and determination. Being the first in my family to pursue A-levels and then university, I have an acute understanding of access and widening participation agendas.

I have been with my husband, Alain, for 30 years and married for 24. He is of Caribbean heritage. Our life together and our two dual-heritage children have deepened my appreciation for diversity, collaboration, connection and community. These personal experiences have become the bedrock of my professional ethos.

As a Higher Education Consultant, my focus has been unwavering: championing inclusion, widening access to higher education for non-traditional students and ensuring that education fosters positive outcomes for all. My work is driven by a commitment to social justice, ethical integrity and a profound sense of what is fair and right. Peer networking has become a tool for professional growth and societal change, embodying my belief that education should be a leveller, a bridge to opportunities and a beacon of hope.

In all my client projects, this background resonates with and shapes my work to help the sector create environments where every student, irrespective of their background, can find belonging, succeed, and thrive.

When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me practising Tai Chi, pottering in the garden or out walking, and I’ve been enjoying a weekly art class. A few of my favourites are shown here.
